TechnoSavy

I think that the authors of the book Millennial Makeover are for the most part head on when they make generalizations about our generation. The main argument that they are trying to prove is that this generation is going to be the new "political powerhouse" and going to help the Democrats. Since we are so technologically sound it is going to push people to vote more for the Democrats rather than Republicans and I agree. Even though I might not be a Democrat, I still agree with what they are trying to say.
If I had to pick a name for this generation I would call it TechnoSavy. I think that this name is perfect for my generation today because everything that we do revolves around either the internet or just technology in general. That is how we do our school work, get in touch with everyone, and now-a-days buy certain things. Another thing that goes hand in hand with technology that this generation can not live with out is wireless. Everything in which we use today has some sort of wireless device that goes along with it. For example, the lap top computers, the cell phone, and wireless internet. The only cultural touch notes I feel that are most useful in understanding this generation are reality television, video game systems, and cellphones. Everyone has them or watches it and if you don't then you are out of the "loop".

I think that your analysis of our generation is a really good one. The point that you brought up about wireless being one of the things to define our generation is something I really never thought about. I know that our generation needs everything now, but I did not realive how much of an impact wireless technology has made on our generation. TechnoSavy is a great name for our generation. Looking at my parents, I know that they had no idea how to do as much I do with computers at my age. They probably coul dnot even fathom the ideas of cell phones or laptops when they were my age. It is crazy to see how much technology hass shaped our generation.

I completely agree with deeming our generation the TechnoSavy generation, because in all reality every minute of our life involves some sort of technology. I also felt the Democrat push with the Millenial Makeover book and though I also am not a Democrat, I feel like they should give our generation more accountability than to just go for the Democrats because they're different and reaching for change. Overall, this journal entry is almost exactly what I got from reading Millenial Makeover which was nice to see that I wasn't the only one taking away what i have from the reading and class discussion.

LIke the other posts, I also agree with your title for our generation. It is very applicable to the way we work today, and your assertion about wireless internet changing our society is head on. After all, it is the wireless internet that has given business to places like panera and starbucks and also lead us to digital enclosure. It is also the foundation for things like free wifi for those in san francisco in exchange for a bombardment of advertisement.

I would say you are TechoSavy...aren't you the girl that has that awesome pick Mac laptop? I wonder what our kids or the next generation would call us? Proably not so TechnoSavy as we thought in the future where anything could happen. I'm looking forward to there being new developments in technology...just hopefully not the the point of Wall-E where they sit in recliner-cars and eat slurpies all day.

by the way the word verification at the bottom of the post is "ballin"...haha
